Bob Smith of B Hepworth & Co Ltd, also a Vistage member and expert in the Toyota JIT methodology, started with a presentation on how Johnson Controls supplies seating units to Toyota cars, real time and synchronised with Toyota’s own production line. Once a car chassis is built and painted by Toyota, a trigger is sent to Johnson Controls to build the seating units, with the correct fabric, trim and options. Vistage member Andy Lothian of Insights yesterday opened their new multi-million pound global headquarters in Dundee.
The new HQ, ‘Terra Nova’, plays a critical part in the company’s expansion plans. In a difficult global climate, this international organisation has given a firm pledge to retain its foundations and expand its future workforce in Scotland.

Mark is also hosting a meeting for our Vistage Chairman Alan Cook where he will present on Strategy & Leadership on the 24th November 2009.
On Tuesday 13th October I attended the CRN Channel Conference at Whittlebury Hall in Northamptonshire. Over 200 senior executives from IT vendors, distributors, resellers and system integrators attended the event, organised by CRN Magazine and Channel Web. As you would expect, the event was full of men in grey suits, and sponsors were promoting the latest channel programmes, faster chips, better software, cloud computing.
